Granlund Manager is used for maintenance, energy and indoor condition management in 2,000 school and university buildings in Finland.
International research shows that the Finnish school system is one of the best in the world. However, high-quality teaching is only one reason behind Finnish children’s and young people’s success.

“Another important factor is healthy, safety and technical operability of the learning environments”, says Jukka Mäkelä, Mayor of the City of Espoo.
Good indoor air and technical operability contribute to good learning results
Finland has topped the PISA results throughout the 2000s. In the past few years, the PISA studies have started to pay attention to how different learning environments influence learning results.
“The best learning results can be achieved on school buildings that ensure the well-being of children and young people”, emphasises Mäkelä.
All Finnish schools are investing in well-functioning learning environments and the students’ well-being is part of the national curriculum.
Latest technology ensuring good indoor conditions
Finland is known as a leading high-tech country that is a pioneer in the use and development of new technology.
“On high-quality learning environment, the indoor conditions are optimal: good indoor air improves concentration, energy levels and, as a result, learning,” notes Mäkelä. “With the aid of modern technology, we can ensure that each child has the best opportunities to utilise their full potential and achieve high learning results.”

The City of Espoo uses Granlund Manager, a cloud-based property maintenance and energy management software, in all of its school properties. The technical solutions and indoor conditions of the schools are monitored and maintained with Granlund Manager. The features used include, for instance, proactive maintenance planning, mobile service requests and automated indoor conditions monitoring.
“At their best, well-maintained and functional properties are also energy-efficient, which reduces the maintenance costs and saves the environment.”
